Kastoria Monument
Kastoria, Greece, Also Dedicates Monument
On October 13, 1997, the Central Board of Jewish Communities
in Greece (KIS) dedicated a Holocaust Memorial in Kastoria, a small city
in Macedonia. Approximately 400 people attended the ceremony. The monument
is located at the site of the deportation by the occupying Germans of the
approximately 1,000 Jews of Kastoria, only 35 of whom survived the Holocaust.
A photo of the simple monument was published in The WJC Report XXI:1
(June/July 1997).
