Jewish Art in Greece: A Symposium, Sept. 8-18, 1997
The Center for Jewish Art presents its sixth symposium in the biennial series that examines the Jewish artistic heritage of various countries. The symposium, to be held from September 8-18, 1997, will provide a fascinating opportunity to explore the rich culture and history of the Greek Jewish community and to enjoy the unique beauty of the country and its islands. Faculty and staff from Hebrew University and the Center for Jewish Art will be joined by architect Elias Messinas, Zanet Battinou, curator of the Jewish Museum of Greece, and Nicholas Stavroulakis, founder and former director of the Jewish Museum in Greece and Project Manager of the Etz Hayim Synagogue restoration, Hania (Crete).
