On July 16, 1998, 30 gravestones in the Jewish section of Moscow’s Vostryakovo Cemetery were discovered vandalized.  The desecration followed another attack the previous week in which 22 headstones were toppled and eight others were broken into pieces.  The perpetrators are unknown.
