Historical Data:  The Synagogue of Verria is located at the very end of the central corridor of the former Jewish quarter (also called the "Barbouta" area).  It was built in the early 19th century and it si in a very dilapidated state.  No Jews have lived in Verria since the Holocaust.

Necessary Restoration Works:

  • The roof needs to be rebuilt and additional supports hav eto be set in to prevent collapse.
  • Restoration of the walls and reconstruction of the interior.

  • Estimated Cost:   100 million drs. ($286,000 US)

[The Cemetery of Verria does not exist.  It was trespassed by the Municipality and it was finally destroyed.]
