Historical Data: This historic synagogue is the only to have survived World War II, even though it is the oldest synagogue on the island of Rhodes. It was built in 1575 and restored after World War II.
Area/Capacity: 315 sq. m./ 400 persons
Actual Condition: The synagogue needs important restoration works and it is included in the World Monuments Fund grants program for the year 2000 as one of the 100 most endangered sites. The synagogue is maintained by the small Jewish Community of Rhodes.
